Indications

Pathologies

Especially indicated for the following surgeries

Urology

Oncological Urology + -

One of the fundamental indications for the treatment of prostate cancer is surgical resection or Radical Prostatectomy. It includes the removal of the prostate, seminal vesicles and surrounding tissues.

It can be performed through a posterior approach (Bocciardi Procedure)  preserving the dorsal penile vascular system and neurological bundles, being this a more conservative procedure for sexual potency and incontinence. Sometimes it is better remove the prostate by anterior approach.

Occasionally, depending on the aggressiveness of the tumor and the risk of metastasis, the lymph nodes of the area or lymphadenectomy should be eliminated.

Radical surgery, Radical or Partial Nephrectomy, is the best treatment for kidney cancer.

It includes the removal of the kidney, perirenal fat and the regional lymph nodes – lymphadenectomy.

Sometimes only part of the kidney must be removed (Partial Nephrectomy). In these cases the Fluorescence technique can be used to ensure an adequate removal of the tumor.

Cancer of the urinary tract can affect the renal calyces, renal pelvis and ureter, in isolated or multiple ways.

Treatment includes surgical removal of the kidney and the entire ureter – Total Nephroureterectomy.

In some cases, part of the ureter or renal pelvis and ureter may be resected – Segmental Pieloureterectomy or Segmental Ureterectomy

Non-metastatic infiltrative bladder cancer requires surgical treatment, which includes resection of the bladder, prostate and seminal vesicles in the male and uterus in the female – Radical Cystectomy.

At the same time, an excision of the regional lymph nodes must be performed – lymphadenectomy.

Sometimes, with very localized tumors, of small size and aggressiveness, part of the bladder can be removed – Partial Cystectomy.

Retroperotoneal Lymphadenectomy + -

It consists in the extirpation of the nodes present in the retroperitoneum, usually by the extension of tumors from regional area and the testicle.

Adrenal Tumors + -

Malignant adrenal tumors and functioning benign tumors (example: pheochromocytoma) are treated by removal of the adrenal gland – Adrenalectomy.

Reconstructive Surgery + -

It includes reconstruction techniques of the renal pelvis and the ureter; Uretero and Pyeloplastia, Partial Ureterectomy, or the opening of the ureter in the bladder – Ureter reimplant, with or without bladder flap and antireflux technique (Boari Technique).

In reconstructive surgery we perform procedures that allow us to derive urine; Ileal Conduct (Bricker Technique), or bladder replacement; Ileal Orthotopic or Heterotopic Neobladder, in cancer or chronic bladder disease, or expand it cases severe bladder capacity decrease.

Urological Vesico-prostatic Surgery + -

It includes the surgical treatment of large diverticula of the bladder, complicated with tumors, calculations, etc, or uncomplicated – Vesical Diverticulectomy.

It also includes the treatment of very bulky prostate adenomas – Prostatic adenomectomy.

Complex Renal Lithiasis + -

In case of large and complex kidney stones, which affect all or part of the renal pelvis and renal calyces, Coraliform or Hemicoraliform Calculi, we must remove  the kidney stones by Robotic Surgery, avoiding open surgery much less accurate and more aggressive.

Pelvic Floor Diseases + -

We use this type of technique in significant Pelvic Prolapses in conjunction with the gynecology service – Colposacropexy, Cervicosacroipexia
